Campfire Roundup — July 19: Legends, Poems and Country Voices

by Alex Bender
Campfire Roundup July 19 2026 weekly update from Country Campfire

Campfire Roundup is emailed to Campfire Nation every Sunday — a quick weekly look at what’s new on Country Campfire, from poems and podcast episodes to campground yarns, Legend pages and stories worth sharing.

G’day Campfire Nation,

Did you see everything that happened on Country Campfire this week?

This week we added a major country music story, published more bush poetry, added new Legend pages, released two Bush Poetry Podcast episodes, and shared another campground yarn from the road.

The campfire is getting a little warmer each week.

This week on Country Campfire:

Gene Bradley Fisk — The Outlaw Voice Who Carried Country Through the Airwaves

This week we published a feature on Gene Bradley Fisk, a country music broadcaster who helped carry the sound and spirit of country music through the airwaves.

A big thank you to Donna Fisk for sharing the story, photos and background that helped bring this piece together.

Keeping The Verse Alive

The Keeping The Verse Alive project grew again this week with two pieces from Ben Eggleton.

These poems are exactly why this project exists — to give written bush poetry a proper home where it can be read, shared and preserved.

Latest from the Bush Poetry Podcast

Two more episodes went live on the Bush Poetry Podcast this week.

The podcast keeps adding more Australian voices to the Country Campfire archive.

New Legend pages

We also added two new Country Campfire Legend pages this week.

These pages are designed as permanent homes for contributors — a place to gather their poems, podcast episodes, stories, links and Country Campfire features over time.

The Campground Project

The Campground Project kept growing this week with a new campground yarn from Queensland.

Thanks to Dani Cook and Winnie chasing double rainbows for sharing the campground notes and helping build the project.
