With the August Campfire Muster taking over last Sunday, this week’s Roundup is catching up on two weeks around the campfire — and there’s been plenty happening.
Since the last Roundup we’ve added four more poems to Keeping The Verse Alive, released two Bush Poetry Podcast episodes, published two new campground yarns, welcomed Gary and Christine Barten to the Country Campfire Legends, added three videos across our YouTube channels — and put together the biggest Campfire Muster yet.

Four more poems have joined the Keeping The Verse Alive project over the past fortnight.
Every poem we add gives another piece of Australian bush verse a permanent home instead of leaving it to disappear down a social media feed.

Two more voices joined the Bush Poetry Podcast over the past fortnight.
We Launched a Bush Poetry YouTube Channel
We’ve started something new this fortnight — a dedicated Bush Poetry YouTube channel.
The idea is pretty simple: it will primarily follow the Bush Poetry Podcast, giving people another way to hear and watch the poems we share.
I kicked things off with a quick recital of Banjo Paterson’s The Lost Drink, then Corin Linch followed with Stroking! What? in his own unmistakable style.

We also published something a little different this week — Building a Backyard Worm Farm for Fishing Bait.
Part recycling project, part fishing preparation, and mostly an excuse to make sure there are always a few worms around when it’s time to take the young bloke trout fishing.
It’s good to start bringing a little more camping, fishing and practical country life into the Country Campfire mix as well.
New Country Campfire Legends
Gary and Christine Barten now have their own permanent home on Country Campfire.
Gary and Christine have already shared several campground yarns with us from their travels around Australia, and their Legend page gives us somewhere to bring those stories — and anything they share with us in the future — together in one place.
That’s exactly what the Country Campfire Legends project is about.

Gary Barten has kept The Campground Project moving too, with another two camps added to the growing collection.
These are exactly the sort of campground yarns we want to keep adding — real places shared by people who have actually camped there.

And then there was the August Campfire Muster…
Last Sunday we swapped the normal weekly Roundup for the August Campfire Muster.
The Muster is our bigger monthly look beyond Country Campfire itself — bringing together country stories, Australian music, bush poetry, rodeos, field days, B&S balls, unusual regional events, Australia’s Big Things and plenty more happening around the country.
August was a big one.
