2023 GOLDEN GUITAR NOMINEE ANDY PENKOW PENS LOVE LETTER TO NSW COUNTRY TOWN ON NEW SINGLE
Andy Penkow’s music has taken him across the world and back again. His travels are what inspires him – whether it be urban or rural – it’s always the stories that stay with him.
The 2023 Golden Guitar Award nominee’s brand-new single is a love letter to the Aussie country towns that have embraced him over the years. It’s evident, Penkow’s music heart well and truly lies in the small country towns across Australia.
The NSW town of Coonabarabran is the focal point of “Aussie Rain”, highlighting the town’s rich history and culture.
“As a full time musician, I get the amazing opportunity to travel across Australia and visit some pretty neat places”, says Penkow. “I first visited a small town in outback New South Wales called Coonabarabran a few years back and I felt an instant connection. There was something so special and unique about it. The people, the land, the history, the nighttime stars, it really moved me. Aussie Rain is a love letter to the town, to thank them for being part of my journey as an artist, singer and songwriter”.
Regarded one of the hardest working artists in the industry, Andy has no desire to slow down just yet. This year alone he has over 100 shows booked with more to come, a string of number one hits under his belt, and an international tour and fourth studio album scheduled for 2024,
Over the past few years, Andy has established himself as modern day troubadour of Australian songs – stories that need to be heard. “Aussie Rain” is co-written with accomplished songwriter, Rip-Van Parks, and produced by the acclaimed Michael Moko (Catherine Britt, Melody Moko).
The stellar music video was directed by Golden Guitar winning film maker, Duncan Toombs. It features the town of Coonabarabran in all its beauty, and a number of warm and friendly locals appear throughout.
“Aussie Rain” is out Friday 11th August 2023.
