Paradise

by Keeping The Verse Alive
Tropical shoreline at sunset inspired by Paradise by David J Delaney

Paradise by David J Delaney reflects on the simple wonder of a tropical shoreline and asks whether such peace can truly be called paradise.

Golden sand, coastal trees, tiny waves, shells and seabirds create a place where time seems to stand still and the senses remain alive to every detail.

Paradise

By David J Delaney

Am I living in paradise?
this question I sometimes ponder,
Where the salt-smelling trade winds
touch your soul then make you wonder

I can lie on her golden sand
shaded by coastal She Oak
and towering Macarangas
while listening to green frogs croak.

Though my senses are still aware
of the gentle zephyr’s blowing
tall Pigeon grass from side to side
as the rippling ocean’s glowing.

The tiny, foaming bubbled waves
softly making small shells rattle
add to the sounds of peacefulness,
while some nearby Seagulls prattle.

On my back, I stare at the sky
it’s mesmerising azure blue,
as sea Eagle and Albatross
are fading further from my view.

So, do I live in Paradise?
the answer is, of course I do
where time stands still for just awhile,
as it could for any of you.
