Amberley Maryellen Brings New Love Home in ‘Green Eyes’

There’s bringing someone home, and then there’s bringing someone home to meet the family. That second kind comes with a few more butterflies — and it’s the moment Western Australian singer-songwriter Amberley Maryellen celebrates in her single ‘Green Eyes’.

It’s a fitting subject for someone whose own country music story began with family: her mum on guitar, familiar songs in the kitchen, and a young girl who would eventually pick up an instrument herself. Now, with a string of opportunities opening up, Amberley is putting her own songs into that tradition.

When a new connection starts feeling like more

Written by Amberley and produced by Patrick Carrè and Simon Groves of Artisan Music, ‘Green Eyes’ centres on the excitement of a relationship finding its feet. The invitation to come home carries a little extra weight: this is someone you want the people closest to you to know.

Banjo and fiddle are part of the country sound she wanted for the recording, and getting those instruments down was a highlight of the studio sessions.

“I had the best time recording ‘Green Eyes’! I think my favourite part of the recording process was definitely tracking banjo and fiddle! It just adds all the country vibes I was searching for!”

That combination gives the release a clear sense of purpose: a bright country love song about the hopeful stage when you start imagining where a new connection might lead.

A few chords and everyone singing along

Growing up in regional Western Australia, Amberley heard country music as part of everyday family life. Her nanna, mum and sister were part of those musical memories, with songs accompanying gatherings and dinner preparations alike.

Her mum’s guitar playing was the spark. Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn supplied some of the songs, but the real draw was joining in.

“Whenever mum played guitar, we all sang along. She only knew a few chords, but that didn’t matter, we always had a good time.”

Her mum inspired her to learn guitar, and once Amberley had her first song under her fingers, she kept going. It’s a beginning plenty of country music lovers will recognise: music passed along through time spent together, a guitar within reach and songs worth remembering.

From regional WA to a growing country career

In 2024, Amberley travelled to Tamworth to attend the Academy of Country Music, an experience she credits as a foundation for her professional journey.

By 2026, that journey had brought her the Emerging Artist of the Year award at the West Australian Country Music Awards, followed by a win in the Mothertone Muster Talent Search at the Gympie Music Muster. Her growing list of recognition also includes being a WAM Song of the Year finalist and being named AGT Young Regional Artist of the Year at Cuby GrooveFest.

Those achievements give listeners a useful introduction, but ‘Green Eyes’ offers the chance to get to know the songwriter herself. With family woven through both her beginnings and the story of this release, there’s a lovely connection between where she started and what she’s writing now.
